St. Michael Parish Music Ministry Office - 216.524.2425
Todd Dockrill, Director tjd@stmichaelchurchindependence.org The Parish Music Ministry provides & leads the worship for our Liturgical gatherings and other prayer services throughout the year. Working within the guidelines of the GIRM (the General Instruction of the Roman Missal,) the music ministry works to provide an environment in which our Parish Family can find it easy and enjoyable to praise God through song at Mass on the weekends, at our seasonal Penance services and during other special evenings of prayer. The Music Ministry has 3 subgroups within its structure - The Praise & Worship Ensemble, the Resurrection Choir & our Liturgical Cantors. The Praise & Worship Ensemble - this group typically leads the worship at the most of the Sunday 10am Liturgies from October through Pentecost Sunday. Comprised of members of the Parish Family with vocal or instrumental talents, the Praise & Worship Ensemble rehearses most Wednesday nights beginning in October until Pentecost. Rehearsals are at 6:45pm in the Church. For more information please contact Todd in the Music Ministry office at 216.524.2425. The Resurrection Choir is made up of men & women who have the flexibility in their schedule to sing in the mornings, often times during the weekdays for Funeral Masses. The Resurrection Choir is invited to sing for most funerals throughout the year. There are no formal rehearsals, just a familiarity for the music generally used in the Rite of Christian Burial is needed. For more information regarding the Resurrection Choir, please contact the Music Ministry office. The Cantor ministry exists for those Masses in which the other ministries do not participate. Generally those Masses include the Saturday 4:30pm, the Sunday 8:00am & the Sunday 12:00pm. Cantors are also called upon occasionally to sing for a wedding or a funeral. Cantors are expected to have familiarity with the Catholic Liturgy and have the vocal ability to lead the congregation in worship through song. To learn more about the process for becoming a cantor at St. Michael, please contact the Music Ministry office. |
