The Diocesan VIRTUS program exists to create a safe environment for our children to learn and grow physically, mentally and above all, spiritually. It takes more than just the Parish and School staff to do this and we appreciate all the volunteers who give of their time and talents. If you are interested in volunteering in any activities with the children at St. Michael School/Parish, there are some things you will be required to do.
1. You will need to attend a "Protecting God's Children for Adults" session.
2. You will need to have a background check done via your VIRTUS account. 3. You will need to read and sign acknowledgement forms for 2 Diocesan policies. 4. You will need to remain current with your VIRTUS training via online training bulletins. (requirements 1-3 must be completed prior to any volunteer activity. Requirement 4 is ongoing after your initial training.) |
Currently, St. Michael is not offering any VIRTUS training sessions. Training sessions can be found by going to www.virtus.org
All volunteers working with children in the Parish and/or School need to have a completed background check linked to their VIRTUS account. You can do this directly through your VIRTUS account. Please contact Todd at 216.524.4212 if you have any questions about completing this process.
All persons employed at St. Michael Church and School are subject to a criminal records background (FBI & Ohio BCI&I) check via electronic fingerprint capture. Please contact the rectory office to obtain detailed information on that procedure.
The 2 diocesan policies can be downloaded by clicking on the appropriate link below. The acknowledgement forms for each must be signed and turned into the Parish office. Please make sure to sign the correct acknowledgement for the "Policy for the Protection of Children" as there is a specific acknowledgement form only for the ordained and religious.
To aid in the clarification of the information contained in the updated policies above, the diocese has made videos available to be used as an "in service" training update for all clergy, employees, and volunteers. You can be directed to these videos by clicking on the following link:
